SYNOPSIS:
The origin of the film 'Hate' (La Haine) Makomé is the death of a 17 year old Arab was shot dead while being interrogated by the police.
Mathieu Kassovitz, partipante active in protests that followed this, retrieves the tragic accident with the story of three young (Vinz, Jew, Saïd, Arabic, and Hubert, black Africans) who wake up one day battle between youth and police officers caused by the death of young Makomé. 'Hate' is set in a Parisian suburb Chantelou. The French name suburbs ('les banlieux') literally means 'place of exile' and since have become built into 'zones' of concrete that generate resentment, disappointment and violence.
The film is intentionally shot in black and white, wants to remind the viewer that is watching a hyper-realistic portrait of a youth steeped in hatred, no work, ideals and money. 'Hate' is the portrayal and reporting of a company that built the welfare of a few of the marginalization and lack of expectations of a portion of the population.
You can find some parallels with the films of Spike Lee ("Do the Right Thing '); Stephen Frears ("Samie and Rosie Get Laid ') or John Singleton (" Boyz N the Hood') ... mostly movies social interest over the film.
